What an incredible, challenging, difficult, and amazing time of life you and your family are going through: watching your son or daughter grow and mature from being a child, to a teenager, to a young adult. Here in Student Ministries at Woodmen Valley Chapel, one of our core values is to partner with parents as we seek to help students live the bigger story.

This Month's Series: Bad Romance
One of the ways we try to partner with parents is by teaching an annual series on Sex & Relationships. In a world where students are constantly surrounded by a variety of voices telling them mixed messages about sex and dating, we feel it is important to come alongside parents as an additional voice speaking out for purity, holiness, and godly choices. Our intent in this series is not to supplant your input into your students lives; it is to strengthen it.
Please take a look below and see some of the types of questions your students submitted to us last week about sex and dating:
•What is sex and how do you have it?
•What if I'm attracted to the same sex?
•How old do you have to be to date?
•Is sex appropriate when you're married?
•How far is too far to go with a boyfriend/girlfriend?
We will be answering some of those questions throughout this series but we aren't able to answer all of them, so we strongly encourage you to explore these questions with your student(s) if you haven't already. Our concern is that if their questions don't get answered at home or at church they are likely getting answers from somewhere else (school, internet, TV, movies, etc). Please take some time over this next month to talk with your son or daughter about sex and relationships.

Upcoming series: Unlikely Heroes
Sunday, December 11 & 18
Unlikely Heroes will take a look at some of the characters in the Christmas Story who, at first glance, seem to take a backstage role. In reality, they illustrate God's invitation to everyone, no matter how great or how small. We'll look at characters who were expecting the arrival of Christ, and those who were not. And, how God can make heroes out of all of us, no matter how unlikely it may seem.
The purpose of this series is to point our Students to Christ this holiday season, despite the fact that the world elevates characters like Santa Claus and Buddy the Elf above Jesus.
As a family, talk about your holiday traditions, and how you can make Christ the center of Christmas, and your lives throughout the year.
